The 13th Annual Somerset Business Awards were held on the evening of Friday 20th October at the Wellsprings Leisure Centre in Taunton. It was a very glamorous event with businesses from all over Somerset attending and also included representatives from EDF, and was organised and sponsored by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

Bridges was finalist in two categories: The Skills for Growth Award and the Technology & Innovation Award. The evening’s host was Alex Lovell from BBC Points West and representing Bridges were Chris Maddox, Framework Director and Curtis Bartlett, Bid & Proposals Manager, who wrote and managed our award submissions.

There were over 350 attendees on the night and the Wellspring Leisure Centre looked fantastic for the evening. As this was the first time we entered the awards, we really didn’t know what to expect. The Skills for Growth Award, sponsored by Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association, was our first category with Bridges taking the runner-up position to Avery Carpentry Contractors.

The next category for Bridges was the Technology & Innovation award, sponsored by Porter Dodson Solicitors. There was tough competition from DNA Worldwide Ltd (Frome) and SCM Handling Ltd (Bishops Lydeard) and Bridges was announced the winner of the category.

This is recognition for the advances we have made over the past few years, a nd the investments in technology and people that we will continue to make going forward. This award also recognises the hard work and dedication of our teams in the field and all Bridges staff as we embrace the technological advances that change the way we work and the service that we offer to our clients. (Image courtesy ‘Somerset Business Awards 2017 – Simon York Photography’).
