Women in Engineering Event

We supported three of our female staff members to attend an International Women in Engineering event held in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House at parliament. The speakers talked about carbon, transport, tunnels and water, challenging the perception in a heavily dominated male industry and is there such thing as a straightforward career path? One of our employee’s presentation was titled “I didn’t realise girls could be engineers”, as this was a statement she heard on her first day of university by a peer. She has strived to breakdown the stereotype through being a STEM ambassador, promoting science and engineering in classrooms.
