Grand Opening of Engineering House & Academy

Wednesday the 23rd of November was another exciting day for Bridges where we were joined by the West of England Metro Mayor, Dan Norris and his team. It was a double opening day, first with the official opening of our head office, Engineering House in Midsomer Norton followed by the opening of our brand new Engineering Academy.

Our new Engineering Academy delivers CompEx Boot Camps and skills training including opportunities for local people looking to train and return to work. In the upcoming weeks, 30 local workers will take part in the free courses in which they will work towards gaining new qualifications, enabling them to work in Hazardous Areas in the utilities and water industries. Participants will get hands-on experience working in potentially dangerous environments within Bridges’ purpose-built New Engineering Academy, to learn how to keep themselves and others safe. It’s a fantastic addition to Bridges and to the local economy and would not have been made possible without funding received by the West of England Combined Authority. These facilities and skills help us engineer sustainable assets our valued customers are proud to own and operate.

Chris Maddox, People and Client Director said: “Our new Engineering Academy and our CompEx Boot Camps are a real demonstration of how we at Bridges live our values of Safe People, Happy People and Sustainable Business.  This investment in people and facilities is creating new opportunities for local people, developing more technical talent, and bringing work from outside the region to benefit the Somerset economy”.
